The issue on this political cartoon is about how America gained more land like Hawaii. In the political cartoon Uncle Sam is wearing all the new states we gained. The cartoonist’s message on this issue is that America is seeing which state fits best on us. In the political cartoon McKinley is measuring out Uncle Sam’s size. Some other opinions people can say on this issue is that Uncle Sam is helping us become a bigger country. In the political cartoon he has a big belly while he is wearing the U.S. flag. Some techniques the cartoonist used were labeling and symbolism. In the political cartoon Uncle Sam’s pant, clothing behind him, and the jugs are labeled, also Uncle Sam is symbolizing America. This cartoon is anti-imperialism. In the political cartoon the three men are holding jugs of anti-expansionism policy and offering it to Uncle Sam, so America stops expanding.
