Open Door Policy

The issue on this political cartoon is about how China didn’t let foreigners in, but now allow them to come in. In the political cartoon it has opened door for foreigners. The cartoonist’s message on this issue is that America is taking control of who comes in or out. In the political cartoon it has Uncle Sam holding the key to the doors. Some other opinions people can say on this issue is that Uncle Sam just wants China’s resources for himself. In the political cartoon he has a evil, smirking face with the key in his hand. Some techniques the cartoonist used were labeling and symbolism. In the political cartoon it has the labeling of America’s power on the key and China on the wall, also Uncle Sam is symbolizing America and the key is symbolizing America’s power on China. This cartoon is anti-imperialism. In the political cartoon the U.S. doesn’t gain any land to expand from China.
