Open Door Policy

The issue on this political cartoon is how America stops other countries from forming monopolies with China. In the political cartoon all the countries are around China ready to get a sphere of influence. The cartoonist’s message on this issue is that Uncle Sam stop nations from cutting up China. In the political cartoon the nations have sharpened scissors ready to cup up the map of China. Some other opinions people can say on his issue is that Uncle Sam is trying to get a piece of China himself. In the political cartoon Uncle Sam has a sword, but he is holding a trade treaty with China. Some techniques the cartoonist used were labeling and symbolism. In the political cartoon the trade treaty with China and the map of China is labeled, also Uncle Sam and the people around the map of China are symbolizing countries. This cartoon is anti-imperialism. In the political cartoon none of the countries get to expand because they don’t get a piece of China and America just wants a trade treaty with China and doesn’t want any land.
