Spanish-American War

The issue on this political cartoon is about how America gets the land for us to expand. In the political cartoon there is a menu of all the land that we gained. The cartoonist’s message on this issue is Uncle Sam can just choose any nation to “devour”. In the political cartoon there is a menu for Uncle Sam to select a nation to add to America. Some other opinions people can say on this issue is that McKinley is serving American people. In the political cartoon it was McKinley kindly waiting on Uncle Sam to choose his choice. Some techniques the cartoonist used were labeling and symbolism. In the political cartoon the nations are labeled as food, and the waiter is labeled as McKinley, also Uncle Sam is symbolizing America. This cartoon is anti-imperialism. In the political cartoon America is choosing weak nations to put under our wing.
