Roosevelt Corollary

The issue on this political cartoon is how Europe was claiming and interfering with other nations. In the political cartoon Europe has a paper that says claims while pointing at the Republic of Santo Domingo. The cartoonist’s message on this issue is that Roosevelt was protecting nations from Europe colonizing them. In the political cartoon Roosevelt has a canon that is pointed at Europe for Europe to not interfere or claim Republic of Santo Domingo. Some other opinions people can say is Roosevelt is acting like a policeman. In the political cartoon Roosevelt is wearing a soldier uniform. Some techniques the cartoonist used were labeling and symbolism. In the political cartoon the canon is labeled as Monroe Doctrine, the other people are labeled as nations, and the paper Europe is holding is labeled as claims, also the ship is symbolizing the U.S., the other people are symbolizing nations and the canon is symbolizing the Monroe Doctrine. This cartoon is anti-imperialism. In the political cartoon Europe is trying to claim the Republic of Santo Domingo, but Roosevelt doesn’t let Europe gain the land.
