Roosevelt Corollary

The issue on this political cartoon is about how Roosevelt is protecting the U.S. from other nations. In the political cartoon Roosevelt is a giant compared to the other and getting them away from the U.S. The cartoonist’s message on this issue that Roosevelt is acting like a policeman. In the political cartoon there is Roosevelt wearing a police uniform with a beater stick. Some other opinions people can say on this issue is that Roosevelt might be just not allowing people take America’s land. In the political cartoon Roosevelt has a keen eye on the nations, but is holding the new diplomacy. Some techniques the cartoonist used were labeling and symbolism. In the political cartoon the stick is labeled as the new diplomacy and the paper in Roosevelt’s hand is labeled as arbitration, also the people are symbolizing nations and the policeman is symbolizing Roosevelt. This cartoon is anti-imperialism. In the political cartoon U.S. is protecting land instead of taking land to expand.
